Title: Statistical Summary of Wells Drilled Below 18,000 Feet (5,500 Meters) in West Texas and Anadarko Basin: GEOLOGIC NOTES

Author(s): Richard Steinmetz (2)

Abstract:

Wells drilled to depths greater than 18,000 ft (5,500 m) in West Texas-New Mexico and Texas Panhandle-Oklahoma show encouraging results. In comparison to nationwide data, the ultradeep wells in these two regions show higher success ratios and lower increase, percentage-wise, in costs. Estimates of productive capacities from initial potentials of ultradeep producers apparently are not depth dependent.
